Introducing GreenDotBot AI Reports

It's been a while since the last update, but for good reason - I've been busy building out the newest feature on GreenDot Stocks. You might have encountered it already!

While I still believe human analysis is very important before making any investment decision, a lot of the value of this site is in using data tools to identify a small collection of potentially great investments from a universe of thousands of choices.

This started with the Green Screen, a customized stock screen that focuses on the two most important things that matter most for great long term investments: revenue growth and free cash flow generation.

To that I added my own qualitative analysis, focusing in on just a few business characteristics (recurring revenue, moat, financial health, leadership), combined with a careful discounted cash flow analysis to come up with a fair price.

This has worked pretty well, but the main constraint for me has simply been time. It is impossible to get around to researching all 200-ish stocks in the Green Screen in any reasonable amount of time - and the screen results change week to week.

We need a better way to get some "front door" analysis on these companies to save us even more time. The addition of company summaries on the screen page (the "i" icons) was the first step. That allows us to quickly identify easy passes like commodity or clinical stage drug companies. But the information is limited.

That brings me to our newest feature: the "GreenDotBot"!

What is GreenDotBot?

GreenDotBot is simply an automatic process that generates (and keeps updated) detailed research reports. It uses generative AI queries specifically tailored to cover the areas of stock analysis this site is focused on: revenue growth, recurring revenue, economic moat, leadership, and financial health. My aim is to provide much more useful data to site visitors on stocks they may be interested in, but I haven't gotten around to reviewing just yet.

GreenDotBot AI reports are rolling out now and will eventually cover all the stocks in our portfolio, Watch List, and Green Screen. Where research already exists, the AI report will be added to the stock page as an additional data set. For stocks with no internal research, the AI report will sit in as a brief overview for interested investors.

The goal here is to make finding potentially great long-term stock investments even faster and more straightforward than before!

What it isn't

The GreenDotBot reports are generated by AI, so like any other AI-generated information you may use, "trust-but-verify" is a good approach. They should certainly not be used as the sole basis for any investment decision, and this site will NEVER add a stock to the Watch or Buy Lists without doing a thorough, personally generated stock overview. AI reports are another tool in the toolbox - not a robot mechanic.
